Counting on the Marsh:
A Nighttime Book of Numbers

2001

Counting on the Marsh: A Nighttime Book of Numbers was inspired by the commingling of several factors: a newspaper article examining the marsh’s delicate natural balance, a collection of Scherenschnitte (German cut-paper art), a study of concept books, growing up in Northwest Indiana marshland. It celebrates the interrelationships of the various creatures of the marsh, from the dramatic to the humble.

This book was originally created in 1997. Revised and editioned in 2001, this version was typeset digitally in 36 point Caslon Antique and letterpress printed from polymer plates. The illustrations are linoleum block prints. All paper was handmade by the artist. Edition of 12. Sold out.
