Fine Binding for Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere"

2011

In the prologue of Neverwhere a fortune teller advises Richard (the male protagonist), that “I’d watch out for doors if I were you.” The reader is soon introduced to a character named Door, who is able to create and open doors that give access to unexpected times and places. I inset doors such as these into this binding; and when opened, they reveal animals from the narrative rendered as pop-ups. Gaiman’s “London Below” characters wear scavenged clothing—multiple layers of soiled, thread-bare, mismatched garments. My binding reflects this scavenged aesthetic.
